The Eight Extraordinary Channels

“In truth, Eight Extraordinary channels in terms of their cultivation, is anyone who is willing to increase self-examination, self inquiry, looking at their self and seeing:

“What is my purpose.”

The Philosophical Concepts of Human Existence

FIRST ANCESTRY

Chong Mai

Chong Mai contains the BLUEPRINT of our existence. It is a package of potential that contains the morphology inherited from the parents and cosmic Qi that arrives at conception. Chong Mai has five trajectories that maintain all aspects of the entire living system.

The Sea of Postnatal Qi, the Sea of Blood, the Sea of six solid and seven hollow organs, the Sea of 12 Meridians it is powerful, nourishing, grounding and reassuring.

FIRST ANCESTRY

Ren Mai

Ren Mai is the Sea of Yin and is the Channel of Bonding. Very much associated with nourishment it represents the archetype of the Mother. Ren Mai is very much about how we connect: connect to ourselves, to our parents, to our children, to things, to processes, to experiences, to thoughts, to food, to situations, to … everything really! And it harmonizes all the connections that we create by helping us feel whole and complete in ourselves.

FIRST ANCESTRY

Du Mai

Du Mai is the Sea of Yang and the Channel of Separation or Individuation. Du Mai helps to define oneself as an individual, to break away from the maternal matrix and to explore the world. In adulthood, if Du Mai is balanced, there will be freedom in forward movement; if out of balance, there will be conflict carrying things out and moving ahead.

Physically, the channel is warming, and supports digestion, reproduction, and immunity.

SECOND ANCESTRY

Yin Wei Mai

Yin Wei Mai unites the yin channels. Yin Wei Mai is a fabric of our life that contains the record of all the significant events of our life related to the cycles of seven and eight. Yin, by nature, is cooling, and moisturizing. This channel helps resolve Yin stasis. Yin stasis prevents the bodies natural fluids from going where they are more correctly needed to go. When we engage Yin Wei Mai, Yin stasis can disperse. Problems if dryness may start to resolve. The freed moisture may become more available to be directed to the sensory organs: the eyes, the nose, the ears, the mouth the skin.

SECOND ANCESTRY

Yang Wei Mai

Yang Wei Mai contains the record of our past actions. It unites all the Yang channels. It energizes and sustains in creating actions in the future. A balanced Yang Wei Mai helps us to move forward in life.

THIRD ANCESTRY

Yin Qiao Mai

Yin Qiao Mai and Yang Qiao Mai: This pair of channels deals with the present moment and one’s stance in life. The word Qiao means heel, and as heels connect to the Earth determines our walk. Yin Qiao supports us to self-reflect, to respect and love ourselves in the present moment. To take responsibility for ourselves and yet to comfortably nurture us in to move forward in those areas where we still need to develop.

THIRD ANCESTRY

Yang Qiao Mai

Yang Qiao represents our relationship with the outer world. Feelings of resentment, anger, powerlessness within ones self as power has been attributed to others can all reside in Yang Qiao. The balance of Yin Qiao and Yang Qiao affects the musculature on the inner and outer leg, affecting the stance and inversion or eversion of the feet, and therefore movement.

THIRD ANCESTRY

Dai Mai

Dai Mai has 2 trajectories with very different functions. What they have in common is they wrap around the torso at navel level. The first trajectory, consolidating Dai Mai, is a true belt, holding each of the other trajectories upright, and supporting them in their functions.

The second trajectory, the draining Dai Mai, is like a sewer system, allowing the refuse no longer needed, be it damp, cold or heat, physical or emotional, to be drained away from the body.
